What We Love, We Protect
Wildlife & Nature Photography by Regi Popelier
My connection with nature began at a very young age, when my father introduced me to tropical fishkeeping. What started as a childhood fascination quickly grew into a lifelong passion. Later, I began photographing tropical fish, realizing that capturing and sharing the beauty of living creatures had become my mission. After years in the tropical fish trade and international export, my expeditions across the globe deepened my respect for nature’s extraordinary beauty and its vulnerability.
During an expedition in Malaysia, my perspective shifted forever. An encounter with a group of langur monkeys moving silently through the trees above our guesthouse became a turning point. Since then, I have traveled across the globe in search of rare and endangered species.
From the Himalayas to Antarctica: Documenting the Wild
My journeys have taken me from the Himalayas in pursuit of the elusive Snow Leopard, to the remote mountains of northern Vietnam to document the critically endangered Tonkin snub-nosed monkey. These physically demanding and often uncertain expeditions represent my deep commitment to witnessing and preserving what remains of our wild world.
Through my wildlife photography, I aim to do more than just document animals; I strive to create an emotional connection. When people feel empathy for wildlife, they begin to care. And when they care, conservation becomes personal.
International Recognition and Fine Art Prints
My work has been recognized internationally and published by the Natural History Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, and Africa Geographic, and featured by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to promote travel to Japan. Today, many of my fine art nature prints decorate homes, offices, and gardens throughout Europe.
Beyond photography, I regularly give lectures on Africa and the challenges of conservation, sharing stories from the field to raise awareness. Through exhibitions in Belgium and France, I continue to connect audiences with the raw beauty and fragility of the natural world.
Bring the Wilderness into Your Space
Each image is more than just a decorative piece. It is a silent witness to our planet, a reminder of beauty, and a call for protection. By bringing these images into your home or office, you are investing in professional fine art photography rooted in respect, empathy, and conservation.
Nature has gifted me a lifetime of extraordinary encounters. Through my work, I hope to pass this passion on to future generations, inspiring them to cherish, protect, and stand up for the wild places and creatures that still share our planet.
