Malaysia Through the Lens
During a business visit to Malaysia to strengthen longstanding partnerships, an unexpected invitation from my friend Mr. Wong opened the door to a very different journey, one that would take me deep into the country's wildest landscapes.
From the cultural richness of Penang to the remote frontiers bordering Borneo, we spent several weeks exploring national parks, ancient rainforests and protected wilderness areas alive with wildlife.
For me, Malaysia became as much a lesson in how to photograph as in what to photograph. In several locations, working from very low angles transformed the familiar perspective completely. Shooting close to ground level brought wildlife into a stronger relationship with the surrounding landscape, creating images with a different sense of scale, depth and atmosphere.
Immersed in the rainforest, I learned to slow down and observe, waiting for the right light, movement or unexpected encounter. Each photograph became a fragment of a journey shaped by discovery, patience and a growing respect for a natural world that still knows how to surprise.
