The Pantanal is a vast wetland covering approximately 140,000 km² and it is home to the largest jaguar population in the world. Nowhere else on Earth will you find such a concentration of jaguars as in the Pantanal of Brazil.
We set out in the morning for a boat trip, quietly hoping to photograph a few animals, such as giant otters, under the best possible conditions. Exploring the rivers of the Pantanal is an extraordinary experience, especially during the dry season, and when you happen to spot these still-mysterious animals on a riverbank or nearby, it truly feels like a dream come true.
After several hours of cruising, we were finally fortunate enough to find this beautiful adult female, resting in a tree along the banks of the Three Brothers River.
She watched me attentively, yet I also sensed a hint of curiosity in her eyes as I captured images at full speed with my camera of this truly magnificent cat.
